Wilma Jean Crabb

June 17, 1932 — December 21, 2019

Wilma Jean Crabb, age 87, of Carbondale, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 10:14 a.m. at her home.


Wilma was born on June 17, 1932, in Saline County, IL, the daughter of Joseph Lorel and Mary Francis (Lewis) Hall.  She married Carrol Dean Crabb on June 24, 1950 at McKinley Avenue Baptist Church, Harrisburg, IL and he preceded her in death on February 23, 1967. 

Wilma worked as a teletype operator in the catalog department for Sears in Carbondale.  She later worked as a secretary for Jim Renshaw Insurance.  Wilma was one of the founding members of Lakeland Baptist Church, Carbondale and loved working in her yard, gardening and being with her grandchildren.


Survivors include her two daughters, Carol Jo (John) Andrew of Marion, IL and Debra Jean Thornton of Anna, IL; one son, Jason Crabb of Cobden, IL; her three grandchildren, James Eric Thornton (Jessica Fry) of Anna, Taylor (Kortney) Crabb of Nederland, TX and Breana Crabb of Elkville, IL; her cousin, Kathy (Brent) Hileman of Jonesboro, IL; as well as other family members and friends.


She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; husband; one son, Trent Dean Crabb; and cousins.


Graveside funeral services will be held at Lindale Cemetery, Eldorado, IL on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.  Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Blue Funeral Home, Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
