William Billy Ward Trovillion
Goreville-William Ward Billy Ward Trovillion, 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 5:33 AM at Herrin Hospital.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Fountains Cemetery south of Marion with Reverend R.G. Null officiating. Visitation will be held at the cemetery from 10-11 AM. Military Rites will be held following the graveside service with VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard conducting the ceremony. Memorials are suggested to the Saline Masonic Lodge. Envelopes will be available during the services or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959.
William was born on November 27, 1923 in Goreville to Ward & Carrie (Bradley) Trovillion. He married Marjorie Throgmorton on July 4, 1947; they were about to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie; children, James Houston Trovillion and Elmer Lyn & Lori Trovillion all of Goreville and Kathy Mae & Alan Saponar of Swansea; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lynn A. Trovillion and sister, Mary Lucille (Trovillion) Steiner.
He lived his entire life in Goreville; where he acquired the affectionate nickname Billy Ward from the local residents. Billy Ward worked 47 years for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. He also sold insurance and was formerly a real estate broker. He served in the United States Army during World War II, having been stationed in Iceland. His loss will be greatly felt in his community.
