William Peebels
PITTSBURG-William Peebels, 77, of Pittsburg passed away at 10:05 AM, Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, April 23, 2006 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend John Howat. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 PM, Saturday evening by Masonic Lodge 89 AF & AM. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant “Poordo” Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Childrenâs Hospital; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mr. Peebels was born on May 2, 1928 in Williamson County, Illinois to William Walker and Lillian Marie (Parks) Peebels. He married Eloise Moulton on December 21, 1946 at the home of Jake McNalley near Goreville; she preceded him in death on February 27, 2005.
Survivors include his children, William Stacey and Janet Peebels, Rhonda R. and Larry Tanner and Marytom and Michael Baker all of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Chad and Farrah Peebels, Wendy Peebels, Christopher and Angela Tanner, Jason and Jenny Tanner, Jeremy and Julie Baker and Ashley and Justin Cavitt; great grandchildren, Harley Peebels, Hailee Tanner, Tylanna Peebels and Blakely Cavitt; brother, Ronnie Peebels of Simpson; and sisters, Kathleen Meneese and Jeanetta Bays both of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Lyndal G. Peebels, Thomas F. Peebels and Rex G. Peebels.
Mr. Peebels was an active member and past deacon of Angelville Church and Coal Bank Springs Church. He was also a member of the Williamson County Shrine Club and an officer of the Williamson County Shrine Motor Patrol, a lifetime member of the Blue Lodge 89 AF & AM, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, the Ainad Temple, Modern Woodmen of America and the Williamson County Farm Bureau.
He was a union coal miner for 31 years having worked at Sahara Coal Company, Peabody Coal Company and retired from Brushy Creek Coal Company of Galatia.
