William Horton "Bill" Dick LAKE OF EGYPT - William Horton "Bill" Dick, 77, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in VA Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, in Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with military rites accorded by VFW Post 1301, American Legion Post 147 and the National Guard.Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society ; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Bill was born March 31, 1932, in Belleville, to Wayne and Marguerite (Schrag) Dick. He married Marjorie Holdener on July 7, 1956, in East St. Louis; together they shared 53 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Dick of the Lake of Egypt; daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Larry Bemesderfer of Marion; grandchildren, Christopher and Susan Fritz of Marion and Jason Fritz of Herrin; one great-grandson, Hunter James Fritz; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Julia Dick of Belleville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bill was formerly employed by Dick Dental Lab in Belleville, retiring in 1999. He served his country with the U.S. Army with the Medical Corps during the Korean conflict. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed countless hours tending his gardens and greenhouse.
