William Pete Hindman
MARION-William Pete Hindman, 94 of Marion passed away at 5:03 AM, Sunday, August 29, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Dink Phelps and Reverend Jerry Schell officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cocke Cemetery, southeast of Marion.
Pete was born on September 17, 1915 in Carterville to William Lloyd & Margaret (James) Hindman. He married Lorraine Cooksey in 1941; she preceded him in death in 1980. He married Lora Ludene Morgan in 1988 and she survives of Marion.
Survivors include his wife Lora Hindman of Marion; children Shirley & Mike Barlow of Goreville and LaCeena Stroub of West Virginia; step-children, Donna Felts of Johnston City, Mike & Diana Morgan of Marion, and Bill & Mary Morgan of Marion; grandchildren, John & Paula Stroub, Larry & Sherry Stroub, Billy & Lori Stoub, Joanna Stroub, Donnie & Charlotte Smoot, and Melissa Smoot; 7 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Gladys Stokes; brother, Rex & Violet Hindman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Lorraine; granddaughter, Debbie Stroub; brother, James Ray Hindman; sisters, Alice Durham and Ella Mae Moss.
Pete was a longtime coal miner at Ziegler #4. He was well known for his woodworking. He was a member of the Carpenters Union in Marion and the Christadelphian Church in Marion and he was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 89 AF&AM in Marion.
