William Dale Whitehead

September 30, 1946 — January 28, 2015

Goreville-William Dale Whitehead, 68, passed away at 1:58pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. William was born on September 30, 1946 in Herrin to William “Bill” Allen and Ruby Louise (Presley) Whitehead. He married Judy Nordmeyer. She survives of Goreville. William was a member of Spillertown Baptist Church; he attended Apostolic House of Worship in the morning and Spillertown Baptist Church in the evening. He was a retired coal miner and a member of UMWA. He also worked at Odum Concrete in Marion and was the mayor of Spillertown for over 30 years. Survivors include: Son-Darren Whitehead of St. Ann, MO Son-Chad and Sara Whitehead of Marion Daughter-Katie and Brad Denton of Marion Daughter-Janae Whitehead of Carterville Son-Bruce Whitehead of Carterville Step son-David and Raven Steckenrider of Goreville Step daughter-Julie and Lloyd Boren of Savannah, GA Step daughter-Jeannie Sittig of Savannah, GA Several grandchildren Three great grandchildren Sister-Gayle and Lindell Stover of Marion Brother-Gene and Barb Whitehead of Marion Brother-Jim and Joan Whitehead of Marion Sister-in-law-Jane Whitehead of Marion Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jonathan Whitehead and brother, Jerry Whitehead. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at noon at Spillertown Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Shea and Rev. Ben Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Creal Springs. Visitation will also be on Saturday from 10am until the time of service at the church. Memorial donations are suggested to the family and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court St/ Marion, IL 62959.
