Goreville-William Dale Whitehead, 68, passed away at 1:58pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
William was born on September 30, 1946 in Herrin to William “Bill” Allen and Ruby Louise (Presley) Whitehead. He married Judy Nordmeyer. She survives of Goreville.
William was a member of Spillertown Baptist Church; he attended Apostolic House of Worship in the morning and Spillertown Baptist Church in the evening. He was a retired coal miner and a member of UMWA. He also worked at Odum Concrete in Marion and was the mayor of Spillertown for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jonathan Whitehead and brother, Jerry Whitehead.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at noon at Spillertown Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Shea and Rev. Ben Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Creal Springs. Visitation will also be on Saturday from 10am until the time of service at the church.
