Wanda Zo Ella Harris

Wanda Zo Ella “Mitzi” Harris, age 72, of Marion, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at 6:40 a.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, Illinois.

Wanda was born on June 1, 1947 in Carbondale, a daughter to Hollis and Evelyn Louise (Jones) Harrison, Sr.  She married Val Gean Harris on February 18, 1966 in Carbondale and he preceded her in death.  Wanda worked most of her life and was a very hard worker.  She was of the Baptist faith and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and businesswoman.  She was kind hearted and always optimistic, but most of all, Wanda loved her family and treasured spending time with them.

Survivors include her children, Rhonda (Eric) Gibson of Marion, Tracy (Kristina) Harris of Lake of Egypt and Rebecca Headd of Mayfield, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Christopher (Nancy) Gibson, Rachel (Brandon) Ogden, Matthew Gibson, Tannin Harris, Kevin Harris and Travis Headd; three great-grandchildren, Luna Ogden, Katie Gibson and Zack Gibson; two brothers, John Harrison and Irvin (Brenda) Harrison, all of Murphysboro, Illinois; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melba, Vi, Linda, Doris Ann, Dallas, Everett, Barb, and Linda Harrison; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Hollis Harrison, Jr.; a sister, Lou Eva Moody; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mae, Rose, Ace, Doralee, and Connie Harrison.

DUE TO HEALTH CONCERNS RELATED TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS AND BY THE SIGNING OF EXECUTIVE ORDER BY GOVERNOR J.B. PRITZKER, a private funeral service will be held at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville.  Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Goreville.

For those who prefer, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
