Walter Earl Lee Walter Earl Lee, 76, of Marion, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 1:45 PM at St. Louis University Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion with the Reverend John Holst officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, December 18, 2010 from 12:30 PM-2:00 PM. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Walter was born on August 30, 1934 to Clarence Martin & Maggie (Walker) Lee. He married Carolyn Young on October 30, 1955 in Elizabethtown, IL; she survives. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Major Lazette W. (Lee) & Chief Master Sergeant (Ret.) Danny Bretthorst, U.S. Air Force Reserve, Bonaire, GA; daughter-in-law, Florence T. Lee of Salinas, CA; grandchildren, Staff Sergeant Aaron M. & Marie Lee, U.S. Army, Frederick, MD, Corporal Justin L. Bretthorst, U.S. Marine Corp and Katieladene L. Bretthorst. Walter is preceded in death by his parents and son, Staff Sergeant Lyle W. Lee, U.S. Army. Walter attended the Zion United Church of Christ in Marion, formerly served in the United States Army and previously spent time as a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a 1952 graduate of Rosiclare High School then received his diploma in Electrical & Refrigeration from the Coyne Electrical & Television-Radio School in Chicago, IL in 1953. Walter was employed with Montgomery Ward from 1953-1981 and with Shawnee Enterprises from 1985-1996. He enjoyed gardening and hummingbird watching and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
