Virginia L. Russell-Gore MARION-Virginia L. Russell-Gore, 74, of Marion passed away at 10:35 PM, Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Brian Glover, Pastor Jeff Russell, and Pastor Keith Heberer officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Metropolis Memorial Gardens in Metropolis, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and First Church of God in Marion; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Russell-Gore was born on July 23, 1934 in Johnson County to Reverend Thomas and Charlotte (Capron) Penrod. She married Cecil Russell in Metropolis, IL. In 1953, he preceded her in death in 1994. She the married Paul Gore he also preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Jackie & Robert Holmes of Charleston, IL, Pat & John Casada of Birmingham, AL., and Jeff & Kelly Russell of Paducah, KY.; grandchildren, Haley Russell, Jordie Russell, Nicole Casada, and Andrew Casada; sister, Sharon & Randy Rabe of Greer, SC.; brother, Deon Penrod & Melissa Harper of Marion; niece, Debbie Cole and nephew, Don & Paula Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Doris Ann. She loved to read and work in her garden. She enjoyed flowers, butterflies, and birds. She attended the First Church of God in Marion.
