MARION- 8220;Virginia L. Biggs, 90, of Marion passed away at 6:50 PM, Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Parkway Manor in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday September 30, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday September 29, 2007 at the funeral home. A graveside service will be in the Herrin City Cemetery at 10:00 AM Monday, October 1, 2007. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and the Marion First Baptist Church; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mrs. Biggs was born July 6, 1917 in Cambria to John and Verna (Fletcher) Culley. She married Harold “Boots” Biggs in Pontiac Michigan on December 26, 1941; together they shared 62 years of marriage until his death on February 2, 2004.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Ron McKinney of Marion; son and daughter-in-law. Jon and Ellen Biggs of Blythewood, South Carolina; son, Greg Biggs of Alpharetta, Georgia; grandchildren, Tracy and Greg Watson, and Cindy and Pat Comp all of Marion, Chris and Kathy Biggs of Lexington, South Carolina, Jon Clayton Biggs of Columbia, South Carolina, David Biggs and Christine Biggs both of Alpharetta, Georgia and Lisa McKinney of Springfield; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her parents; husband Harold; and grandson, Steve McKinney.
Mrs. Biggs was an active member of the Marion First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher; she was also a member of the Republican Womanâs Club of Marion.
She and “Boots” were chaperones at the Marion Youth Center from 1958 to 1970. She was a big supporter of her husband “Boots” and the local sports that he was involved in.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend she will be missed by many.
