Marion-Violet Tanner, 91, passed away on October 8, 2013.
Violet was born on July 24, 1922 in White County to Rev. Jesse and Sylvia (Lee) Bishop. She married Oval “Odie” Tanner on January 27, 1940. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2001.
Violet was a homemaker and loved her church Mt. Pleasant “Poordo” Freewill Baptist Church where she was the oldest member for 74 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Rose Fields and husband Tom; granddaughters, Michelle Beal and Cheryl Cain and husband Chris; one grandson, Scott Mocaby and wife Heather. Seven great-grandchildren, Amanda Farmer, Austin Beal, Chelsea Beal, Christopher Cain and wife Megan, Cody Cain, Taylor Mocaby and Brandon Mocaby; four great-great granddaughters, Gracie, Hayden, Amaya and Giannah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Edna.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 1pm at Mt. Pleasant “Poordo” Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mt. Pleasant “Poordo” Cemetery or Angel Acres of Marion, Illinois.
