Vinnie Bankston

MARION-Vinnie M. Bankston, 84, of Marion passed away at 4:30 AM, May 3, 2004 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 6, 2004 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Brother Tommy Monroe, Reverend Eddie Donelson and Brother Jim Jackson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Liberty Cemetery west of Marion. Mrs. Bankston was born on January 19, 1920 in Williamson County, Illinois to Marion and Lillie (Jones) Morgan. She married George Loren Bankston on May 10, 1947 in Williamson County, Illinois; he preceded her in death on April 16, 2004. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Ron Reed of Johnston City; son and daughter-in-law, Carl Deon and Robyn Bankston of Marion; and grandchildren, Brad Oxendine, Chad Oxendine and Brenah Bankston. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father who raised her after the death of her father, Jess Lockard; her husband; brother, Cline Morgan; and three sisters, Lora Brock, Geneva Grisham, and Verna Pryor. Mrs. Bankston was a member of the Hickory Grove Christian Church. She formerly worked at Sangamo Electric and Anna Lee`s Clothing Store in Marion. She loved to go to church, she loved her family, loved to cook and work in her garden, and she was always ready to help someone in need.
