Victor Stone

Marion-Victor Stone, 67, passed away at 6:12pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis. Victor was born on June 20, 1948 in Marion to Leslie and Edna (Smith) Stone.  He married Cynthia Sherrod on July 18, 1969 in Marion and together they shared almost 50 years of marriage.  She survives of Marion. Victor served in the US Navy on a destroyer.  He was a retired correctional officer for the State of Illinois and a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church in Energy.  Victor volunteered as a chaplain for area hospitals and always wanted to help people.  He was quick witted and always had a desire to make others smile. Victor will be missed by all. Survivors include: Wife-Cynthia Stone of Marion Daughter-Victoria Stone of Marion Sister-Dorothy and Donnie Odum Brothers-Gene and Donna Stone, Leslie and Pam Stone, Dan and Jacqueline Stone Step sister-Patsy and Lewis Kelly Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda Wedding; step brother, Bill Patterson and step sister, Nancy Thetford A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at noon at Lone Oak Baptist Church in Energy with Pastor David Dyer and Pastor Darrell Wimberly officiating.  Military Rites will be performed by the Marion VFW with assistance from the US Navy. Burial will be at East Liberty Cemetery in Marion.  Visitation will also be on Monday from 10am until the time of service at the church. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
