Verneda Swann MARION–Verneda Swann, 82, of Marion passed away at 4:22 AM, Friday, October 24, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 27, 2008 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Tim Zuck and Reverend Eddie Donnelson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Swann was born on February 12, 1926 in Williamson County, Illinois to Robert and Nettie Pearl (Coulter) Smith. Survivors include her children, Mike and Carole Swann of Marion, Deon Swann of Marion, Sharon and Les Sturgill of Thompsonville and Charles and Phyllis Swann of West Frankfort; grandchildren, Tammy Wedding, Mike Swann, Keith Shew, Cindy and Steve Fuqua, Launa and Tim Zuck, Quintin and Kim Sturgill, Joshua and Julie Sturgill, Jesse Sturgill, Jason and Melanie Swann, Kelsey and Kendall Browning and Kaitlyn Swann; and twenty one great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Swann was a member of the Pittsburg Free Will Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. She loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, making quilts and embroidery. She was a very loving person and will be missed by all.
