Verna Mae was a retired retail associate for the Wal-Mart Corporation, having worked in the shoe department for 28 years. Her giving nature led her to volunteer at the Pittsburg food pantry for over 25 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend always putting everyone else ahead of her own needs. She loved nothing more than to cook and bake for those she loved, ensuring that all were fed to satisfaction, and still encouraging them to eat more or take what was left with them. She had a huge heart and never wanted to see a person go hungry. Her absence in the community will be felt by those who knew and loved her for years to come.
