Velma Crowell GOREVILLE-Velma Crowell, 91, of Goreville passed away at 3:20 AM, Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Reverend Kevin McNeely officiating. Eastern Star rites will be held prior to the start of the funeral service with Goreville Chapter #1009 presiding. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery in Goreville. Velma was born August 13, 1918 in Brandon Mannitoba, Canada to F.Y. and Mrytle(Cato) Thornton. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Kenneth Dorgan of Avinger, Texas; sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Judy Patrick and Robert and Gloria Espeland all of Goreville; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and sister, Helen Forbes of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Crowell; brother, Jeff Thornton; and sister, Vivian Thornton. Velma attended Grange Hall Free Will Baptist Church. She had previously worked in retail as a manager.
