Truman Merriman

Marion- Truman Merriman Jr., 81, of Goreville, went to be with the Lord on Palm Sunday, April 01, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012at 1pm. There will be a visitation on Monday, April 2nd from 5-8pm at the funeral home in Goreville. Mr. Merriman was born August 5th, 1930, to Truman C and Violet (Robertson) Merriman. He married Arma Lea (Pritchett) Merriman on April 3rd, 1949. She preceded him in death on October 3rd, 1987. On December 5th, 1989 he married Mary (Hancock) Merriman, and together they shared 22 years of Marriage. She survives of Goreville. He retired from GTE after 35 years of service. Survivors include: His wife Mary, of Goreville, Daughters; Janet (Joe) Burkey of Murphysboro and Laura (Mike) Hood of Goreville, Stepsons James Hancock of Pheonix AZ, David (Donna) Hancock, Ronald (Janice) Hancock, Joe (Lois) Hancock, Bill (Helen) Hancock, Rob (Connie) Hancock, all of Goreville. Stepdaughters; Sherri Handcock of Paducah KY, Cathy (Todd) Skogley of Pocahontas IL, Tracy (Bob) Gum and Stacy Stephens all of Goreville. 28 Grandchildren and 23 Great- Grandchildren Sisters; Ellen Dunn of Tisilwa IL and Linda (Ray) Gurley of Buncombe. Sister in laws Clara (Irv) Long of Wheatfield IN and Bess (Jim) McKenzie, of Bremen IN. Brother in laws Bill (Clairus) Pritchett of Goreville, Bob (Nina) Carter of Mishawaka IN. Several Nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, an infant sister, and brother in laws John Crawford and Ken Dunn.
