Tina D. Atkins MARION-Tina D. Atkins, 45, of Marion passed away at 6:15 AM, Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday March 16, 2007 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Mike Ebert officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Friday, March 16, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at County Line Cemetery, Creal Springs. Memorials may be made to the family for medical expenses; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Atkins was born October 9, 1961 in Marion, Illinois to Orville and Eileen (Purcell) Murphy. She married Elmer Atkins on December 22, 1984; together they shared 22 years of marriage. Survivors include her husband, Elmer of Marion; sons, James Atkins of Carbondale and David Atkins of St. Charles; grandchildren, Kevin Corell and Kassie Vaughn; step-daughter and husband, April and Ivan Pierce; sister, Tammy Kubiak; brother and sister-in-law, Benny Joe and Caroline Murphy; niece, Danielle Kubiak; and mother-in-law, Edna Atkins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one nephew; one niece; and two uncles. Mrs. Atkins was a member of the First Church of God in Marion. She Previously owned and operated several businesses in Marion including, J & T Recycling, Affordable Automotive, West Main Café and Mister Murphy’s Restaurant. She spent her life pleasing others and did not hesitate to lend a helping hand. She was the hardest working woman anybody knew. She loved each and everyone who knew her and she will be greatly missed by all.
