Thelma Ruth Hayes MARION–Thelma Ruth Hayes, 95, passed away at 1:10 PM, Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Country Acres Assisted Living in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Tim Ozment officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to Liberty Cemetery; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Thelma was born January 29, 1915 in Corinth, Illinois to Joe and Jane (Thompson) Williams. She married Elmer Noble Hayes on April 18, 1947 in Morganfield, Kentucky they shared 44 years together until his death on December 18, 1991. Survivors include her niece and nephews, J.W. Jenkins, Noel Jenkins, Joe Williams, Jerry Williams, Vera Lee Follmer, Bill Williams, and Karen (Williams) Crowder She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; siblings; W.E. Williams, George “Corky” Williams, and Lue Amy Jenkins. Thelma was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and playing piano, especially at Pleasant Grove Church and Liberty Church. She was of the Methodist faith, she was also known for her “angel food cake”.
