Thelma Garris

Marion Thelma Garris, 87, of Marion passed away at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services are set for 2:30 PM on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverends Don Colson & Tim Jeralds officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. Thelma was born on Tuesday, October 21, 1924 in Williamson County to George & Bertha (Moulten) Mohler. She married Harley Garris in Marion on Saturday, June 20, 1942. He preceded her on Saturday, July 11, 1995 after 53 years of marriage. Mrs. Garris is survived by her children, Sandy & Steve Geanetos of Marion, Larry & Dixie Garris of Marion and Harley & Naomi Garris of Herrin; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandchild, Wanda Davis and 3 brothers. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church and also attended services at the Community Chapel Church. Thelma enjoyed cooking, Gospel music, attending garage sales, and her guilty pleasure, television Soap Operas.
