Terry "Rock" Merrell

Carrier Mills-Terry “Rock” Merrell, 68, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Terry was born on March 9, 1948 in Williamson County to James and Betty (Moore) Merrell. He married Judy Schell on June 9, 1968 at the New Burnside Baptist Church in Johnson County.  She survives of Carrier Mills. Terry retired from the U.S. Army where he served in Vietnam.  He loved to coonhunt and fish and enjoyed playing checkers. Survivors include: Wife-Judy Merrell of Carrier Mills Children-Christina and Kenny Childers of Goreville; Christopher and Traci Merrell of Creal Springs and Kimberly Cowgill of Mascoutah Grandchildren-Colton Childers; Dustin Childers; Ethan Childers; Parker Merrell; Payton Merrell; Asaiah Cowgill and Zakara Cowgill Great granddaughter-Addison Childers Brother-David and Joyce Merrell of Freeburg Sisters-Darla and Dan York of Pittsburg; Phyllis and Marlin Snoddy of Dykersburg and Carlene and Douglas Corely of Tupelo, MS He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Edward Merrell and J.W. Merrell and sisters, Jeanette Owens and Janice Baine Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. John Howatt and Darrell Ford officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant “Poordo”. Visitation will be on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
