Terry Lear Godbey, Sr. Goreville-Terry Lear Godbey, Sr., 68, of Goreville passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at his home. Services for Terry will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Dr. Ron Ferguson, Reverend Brad Roberts and Reverend Topper Council officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home in Goreville. Memorial donations are suggested to the family; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Terry was born on September 3, 1943 in Carbondale, IL to Lear & Elizabeth (Whitney) Godbey. He married Mary Gray on July 12, 1985 in Aurora, IL; they shared just under 26 years together. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; sons, Jim Godbey, Bill & Debbie Godbey all of Marion and Terry & Gayle Godbey, Jr. of Pittsburg; step-children, Calvin & Tina Powell, Alan & Saundra Rutherford, Mike & Sue Rutherford, Paul & Terry Rutherford, Roland & Carolyn Rutherford and Terry Cobb; grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, Tara & Nathaniel Godbey all of Marion; 2 great-grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Rick & Loudine Newton; sister, Shannon Byrd; 2 nieces and a nephew. Terry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David “Taco” Newton. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Tarrance Gibbs and Mike & Iris Creasy for all the help they bestowed upon Terry over the past 2 years.
