Sylvia Dascotte Marion-Sylvia Dascotte, 94, of Marion passed away at 7:32 AM, Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Home in Herrin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with Brother Paul Langan officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Association or the American Diabetes Association; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Sylvia was born on June 21, 1916 in Benton to George W. & Amanda E. (Wolverton) Robertson. She married Paul Dascotte on September 22, 1934 in Pittsburg, who preceded her in death on October 12, 1987. Together they had three children. Survivors include her children, Pauline & Gene Norman, Leona Van all of Marion and Kathy & Randy Morgan of Carbondale; grandchildren, Brian Norman & his wife Becky, Renee Norman & her husband Kevin Klatt, Cherie Van, John Van, Brooke Stalberger & her husband Jason and Brianna Morgan; six great-grandchildren; Brothers, Leamon Robertson of Johnston City and James Wesley Robertson of Marion; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Melvin, Virgil, Kenneth and Eugene Robertson; sisters, Faye & Christina Robertson. Sylvia was a long time member of Warder Street Baptist Church in Marion where she taught Sunday school and was also a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church in Johnston City. She was a past active member, and former treasurer, of Royal Neighbors of America in Johnston City. Sylvia held the position as seamstress for twelve years at the Smoler’s Dress Factory in Herrin, where she retired from in 1975.
