Stanley R. Sutton
MARION-Stanley R. Sutton, 81, of Marion passed away at 10:05 PM, Friday, July 21, 2006 at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Paul Hicks officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lindale Memorial Gardens in Eldorado. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Memorials may be made to the Murdale Baptist Church; envelopes will be available at the church and the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mr. Sutton was born March 19, 1925 in Eldorado, Illinois to Clarence F. and Cleatus (Sexton) Sutton. He married Harriet Roberson on August 14, 1945 in Eldorado, Illinois; together they shared 60 years of marriage until her death on January 23, 2006.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ron Barnett of Carbondale; grandchildren, Laura and Scott Fletcher of Little Rock, Arkansas and Steven and Rachel Barnett of Minot, North Dakota; great grandchildren, Julianne Fletcher and Victoria Barnett; nieces, Beth Barger and Jacquie Bond; and nephews, Bill Epperheimer and John Epperheimer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and brother, Reverend Ned Sutton.
Mr. Sutton was a member of the Star General Baptist Church in Eldorado. He retired from Southern Illinois Co-op, where he worked in the Operations Department. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II, earning two Bronze Stars.
He was very loving and devoted to his wife, daughter and grandchildren.
