Stanley Crites, 84, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis
Stanley was born on September 4, 1936 in Johnson County to Clarence and Nellie (McCormick) Crites. He married Holly Johnson on August 31, 1958. They were married for 62 years and she preceded him in death on June 28, 2020.
Stanley was a self-employed carpenter and was of Baptist faith.
Survivors include, five children, Jeff (Michelle) Crites of Marion, Gary (Sheila) Crites of Herrin, Betsy (Tim) Simmons of Marion, Kirby (Pam) Crites of Marion and Tony (Heather) Crites of College Station, TX; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Jerry Crites of Marion and brother-in-law, Evan Johnson of Geneva, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Mary Calhoun and Violetta Knowles and great grandson, Joshua Aaron Crites.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 3pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Visitation will also be on Friday from 1pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, those attending the funeral service and visitation are asked to follow social distancing guidelines and the wearing of masks is encouraged.
