Thompsonville Shirley Ann Thackston, 79 of Thompsonville, passed away at 10:06 AM on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Herrin Hospital with family by her side. Funeral services for Mrs. Thackston will be held at Blue Funeral Home in Marion on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bob Workman officiating. Interment will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will precede the funeral service on Monday starting at 10:00 AM. Memorial donations are suggested to Williamson County Animal Shelter. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Shirley was born in Herrin on September 18, 1933 to Robert & Ruby (Belt) Beltz. She married Donald Thackston on August 18, 1961 in Herrin. The shared 47 years together before his death on August 7, 2008. Mrs. Thackston is survived by her son, Robert & Joan Thackston of Thompsonville; grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Nicole and Amy; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Bradley and 1 on the way. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband and grandson, Robert Joshua Thackston. Mrs. Thackston was on the board for the Corinth Water District and Precinct Committeeman 841 for 40 years. She was the secretary for Ziegler Mining Co. in Johnston City for several years.
