Marion-Shirley Jean McKenzie, 79, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at her home.
Shirley was born on March 9, 1937 in Johnson County to Melvin and Nadine (Cavitt) Gurley. She married Jimmy Dale McKenzie on August 30, 1953 in Vienna. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2013.
Shirley worked over 25 years as a head cook for Unit 2 School. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her church family and bragging about her grandchildren. She played a mean hand of rook. Shirley will be missed. We love you grandma.
She is survived by her two sons; Ronnie Dale McKenzie of Creal Springs, Illinois and William (Bill) James McKenzie and wife Tammy of Marion, Illinois and one daughter, Brenda Kay Cavitt and husband Mike of Carterville, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Dr. Bob Wagner and Rev. Barry Bascom officiating. Visitation will also be on Monday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home.
