Shirley Jean Grissom MARION - 8220; Shirley Jean Grissom, 81, of Marion passed away at 8:40 AM, Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Edward “Shorty” Alsip officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 9, 2007 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Mrs. Grissom was born on March 18, 1926 in Creal Springs, Illinois to Harvey and Margaret (Cason) Betts. She married Virgil Lee Grissom on July 31, 1947 in St. Charles, Missouri; he preceded her in death on April 3, 2003. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James Allen and Alicia Grissom of Herrin; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Lee and Edward Keith Alsip of Marion; and grandchildren, Matthew Alsip, Abigail Alsip and Daykota Russell Grissom. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and eight brothers and sisters. Mrs. Grissom was a longtime member of Spillertown Baptist Church. She worked at Industrial Engineering in St. Louis, Missouri for 43 years. She loved to crochet, cook and most of all spend precious time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
