Shirley Wilson Hill of Marion, Illinois, passed away on October 8, 2024.
Ms. Hill was born April 5, 1934, in Herrin, Illinois to Arthur G. and Norma Vaughn Wilson. She married Gordon L. Hill of Marion in 1952. He preceded her in death December 19, 1988.
Ms. Hill graduated from Herrin High School in 1952 and continued to keep in touch with her classmates through reunions every five years and monthly luncheons with the “lunch bunch of ’52.”
Ms. Hill retired from the Marion Unit II Schools where she was employed for 23 years. She previously worked for the Williamson County Superintendent of Schools for four years.
Ms. Hill is survived by her two sons and daughter in laws: Gordon Scott ( Mary Beth) Hill of Herrin, Kevin D. (Tammy) Hill of Marion, four grandsons, Damon (Chreisha ) Hill of Herrin, Jonathon ( Courtney) Hill of Bloomington, Indiana, Christian (Molly) Hill Rockledge, Florida and Matthew Hill of Chicago, Illinois, four great grandsons Brenden Beasley, Benjamin Scott (Emma) Hill, James Gordon Hill and Owen Hill, three great granddaughters, Kristen (Torry) Schloz, Micaiah Grace Hill and Reece Addison Hill and one great great grandson Teddy Schloz and one brother Bill Wilson of Keystone Heights, Florida. Also, several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, father and mother, three sisters, Ruth Fraiser, Geraldine Clarizio, Betty Byam and brother Charlie Wilson.
Ms. Hill attended Heartland Christian Church of Marion, Illinois.
“God truly blessed me with a precious husband of 36 years, a wonderful, loving family and faithful friends. I am so grateful to God for such a blessed life.”
As per Ms. Hill’s wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service celebrating her life with family and friends, and celebrating the God she loved, will be held at Blue Funeral Home located at 1704 North Court Street in Marion, Illinois on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Friends can visit from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Ron Henwood officiating. Inurnment will follow in Egyptian Memorial Gardens.
