Sherman Albert Minton

Sherman Albert Minton, age 74, of Goreville, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024 at his home in Goreville, Illinois.

Sherman was born November 06, 1949 in Paris, Illinois, a son of Charlie and Mabel (Hickam) Minton. He married Kelly Billingsley and she survives in Goreville. A hard worker from the age of seventeen, he spent ten years working at Westernaire Dodge before opening his own business. Sherman opened Minton Produce in Marion in 1977, where he spent the next 47 years supplying fresh fruits and vegetables to local businesses and the customers he grew to love. He formed close relationships and lasting friendships doing something he believed strongly in, which was supporting local farms and orchards.

He is survived by four daughters- Angie Fields, Tracy (Vinh) Tran, Lindsay (Brandon) Powell, and Gena Blue; one brother- Frank (Heather) Minton; and his grandchildren- Evan and Rianah Fields; Madalyn and Micah Tran; Bailee, Brockton, Britton, Briar Powell; Kennedy and Carson Blue; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mabel (Hickam) Minton-Hughes and Charlie Minton.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024, 1:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with his brother, Mr. Frank Minton, officiating. Burial will follow at the Gregory Minton Cemetery in Alto Pass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
