Sgt. Brock Scoggins

Mt. Vernon-Sgt. Brock Evan Scoggins, 27, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Franklin County Hospital. Brock was born on June 12, 1990 to Richard Scoggins and Tina (Shores) Scoggins. Brock was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army National Guard, serving as a medic. He was a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.  Brock loved playing soccer and played all through school and was currently playing in a league.  He enjoyed hunting, anything outdoors, the St. Louis Cardinals, his dogs and especially loved spending time with his family. Survivors include: Soul mate-Tawna Jean Morehead and their children, Brandon, Jewelia and Zola Mother-Tina Scoggins and step father Steven Horrighs, Sr. Father-Richard and Vicky Scoggins Grandparents-Robert and Barbara Shores Sisters: Whitney and Austin Waldron Ashley and Derrik Liddell Alyssa and Gary Rhoades, Jr. Brother-Justin and Mary Woods Step brothers: Steven and Rebecca Horrighs Joshua Horrighs Several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 12pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will follow at Willow Rest Cemetery in Carterville.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 5pm-7pm at Calvert and Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL. Donations may be made to Ducks Unlimited and will be accepted at the funeral home.
