GOREVILLE-Scott Edwin White, 56, of Goreville, passed away at 10:40 AM on April 29, 2006, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.
He was born in Chicago on June 5, 1949, to Jack Walter White and Betty Jane (Smith) White.
He is survived by his mother Betty, of Elmhurst, IL, his brothers Jeffery White and Linda Rock of Elgin, IL, Timothy and Susan White and their children Emily, Alexander, and Rebecca, of Renton, WA, and his sister, Jennifer and Joseph Pettinger and their children Stephen and Laura of Schaumburg, IL. He also leaves behind many uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Jack, his grandparents and aunts.
Scotty was an Eagle Scout who maintained his love for the outdoors throughout his life. Whether he was fishing, hunting, caving, or looking for morels, he enjoyed all that Southern Illinois had to offer him. He was a retired ranger at Ferne Clyffe State Park in Goreville.
Scotty earned a B.A. from SIU Carbondale in 1976 and was a skilled artist, craftsman, photographer, and was an exceptional cook. He was a Vietnam veteran.
He was a devoted and beloved son, brother and uncle. He had the love, respect and admiration of his family, friends and co-workers and he will be greatly missed.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Scottâs life will be held in Goreville at a later date.
