GOREVILLE -- Ruth Ann Ramey, 65, died peacefully at home Sunday, March 24, 2013.
Born Aug. 14, 1947, in Middleburg, Vt., she was the daughter of Dewitt C. Dickson and Anna Grant Dickson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nora L. Dickson; and a brother, David C. Dickson.
Ruth Ann is survived by son, Timothy P. Ramey of Chicago, and his partner, Ana Silva; daughter and son-in-law, Tonya L. Ramey and Dennis M. O'Connor of Marion; grandsons, Cory M. and Jared M.; daughter, Tammy A. Ramey of Lincoln; brother and sister-in-law, Douglas Dickson and Sharon Smith of Newton, Mass.; sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Paul Guild of Hill, N.H.; uncle and aunt, John and Lisa Grant of Furgis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruth Ann graduated from Olivet Nazarene College in 1970 and later received a master's in rehabilitation counseling in 1992 from SIU Carbondale.
She was employed for the past 20 years by Southern Seven Health Department of Southern Illinois. Ruth Ann enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, a variety of music, working with a diversity of people in problem solving life's situations, and spending time with her family and friends.
Everyone is welcome to a celebration of love to honor Ruth Ann, which will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 30, in First Presbyterian Church in Marion with the Rev. Dan Whitfield officiating.
