Royal J. Lane GOREVILLE-Royal J. Lane, 83, of Goreville passed away at 6:20 AM, Friday, May 18, 2007 at his home. Private services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Chester with Pastor Mark Willig officiating. Blue Funeral Home in Goreville is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Lane was born September 18, 1923 in Earlville, Illinois to Patrick and Audrey (Miller) Lane. He married Merle Hargis in 1951 and she preceded him in death. He later married Josefa Hoelzle on September 14, 2002 in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Survivors include his loving wife Josefa of Goreville; sons, Patrick Royal Lane of Beacher and Walter Lane of Illinois; daughter, Betty Katherine Bublitz of Aberdeen, North Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Michael Horn of Chester; grandchildren, Tiffany Varney, Kim Lane, Matthew Bublitz, Lisa Lane, Nathan Bublitz, Ashley Horn and Emily Bublitz; great grandchildren, Ryan Varney, Elisabeth Varney and David Varney, Jr.; and brothers and sister-in-law, Walter and Bettie Lane of Creal Springs, Frank Lane of Chicago Heights and Jim Lane of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; daughter, Sharon Lilly Polovich; grandson, Andrew Polovich, Jr.; and sisters, Patty Lane and Audrey Lane. Mr. Lane was a farmer as a young man and moved to Chicago Heights in 1939. He retired from Triem Steel in Chicago Heights where he had worked for many years as a foreman. After retirement he moved to Goreville, Lake of Egypt to live. He was a member of the Marion Elks Lodge. He was a hard worker and devoted father and husband. He was always helping a neighbor in need, whether it was taking them to the doctor of mowing their lawn. We loved him and he will be deeply missed.
