Rosemarie Shadowens

Marion—Rosemarie Shadowens, age 72, of Marion, went to be with the Lord at 10:00pm on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Rosemarie was born in West Frankfort on March 21, 1941 to John Foster and Myrtle McGrail. She married Charles “Gib” Shadowens on December 4, 1965 in Zeigler. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1995. Mrs. Shadowens loved to play dominos. She enjoyed volunteering in her community. She had a deep compassion for children and animals. Survivors include her children, John and Angie Shadowens of Marion; grandchild, Abbie Shadowens of Marion; cousin, Johnnie Ashby of Princeton, Indiana; close friends and church family. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Greg Gibbs and Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 am-1:00pm at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
