Roscoe E. Anthony Thompsonville—Roscoe E. Anthony, 85, of Thompsonville departed this life on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 1:00 AM at his home with his loving wife Joyce by his side. Graveside services for Mr. Anthony will be on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Maplewood Cemetery in Marion with David Allen officiating. Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home and during services or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Roscoe was born on Wednesday, January 13, 1926 in the town of Logan, Illinois to Shelby Roscoe & Pearl (Ames) Anthony. He married Joyce Bradley, who survives of Thompsonville. Mr. Anthony is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Joyce; children, Richard & Diana Anthony of Benton and Jo Ann & Kim Burke of Mt. Vernon, IN; grandchildren, Mike & Karen Burke and Rebecca Woods; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Nathan & Adam Burke, Morgan & Nicholas Woods and brother, Romuald & Dorothy Anthony of Melrose Park. Roscoe is preceded in death by his parents, Shelby & Pearl. Mr. Anthony was a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and had retired from Freeman #6 Coal Mine.
