Ronald Travelstead

October 3, 1937 — June 20, 2020

Marion-Ronald Lee Travelstead, 82, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at his home.

Ronald was born on October 3, 1937 in Creal Springs to Clarence "Mutt" and Ruth (Wolfe) Travelstead.  He married Barbara Fisher on January 22, 1955 in Marion and together they shared 65 years of marriage.

Ronald was a retired coal miner.  He worked in Maintenance for Unit #2 schools.  Ronald was a member of Saline Masonic Lodge #339 of Goreville for over 50 years and Scottish Rites Masonic Bodies of Belleville. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed fishing.

Son-Mark and Joy Travelstead

Granddaughter-Marki and Brett Anderson

Sister-Sharon and Kenny McGuire

Brother-Larry and Joyce Travelstead

Sisters in law-Shirley Fisher and Donna Fisher

Several nieces and nephews

Neighbor and great friend-Greg Haas

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pearline Phillips; brother, Alfred Dean Travelstead and son in law, Jack West.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Randy Jones officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home.

Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, those attending the funeral service and visitation are asked to follow social distancing guidelines and the wearing of masks is encouraged.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
