Goreville- Ronald D. Stroud, 75, passed away 11:05pm Friday, January 20, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Mr. Stroud will be held Monday, January 23rd, 2012 at 11am the Friendship Church in Goreville. Burial will follow at the Friendship Cemetery in Goreville. There will be a time of visitation at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012 from 4-8pm. Rev. Lee Wollard and Rev. Dale Billingsley will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Church and will be accepted at the service times, or may be mailed C/O Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion IL 62959. Mr. Stroud was born on December 24th, 1936 in McClure, IL, the son of Ruel and Clara (Wilson) Stroud. He married Wilma Perry on May 29th, 1958 at the Mt. Joy Church in Goreville. Together they shared fifty-four years of marriage. Mr. Stroud was a lifelong member and deacon of Friendship General Baptist Church. He was active in the Ohio Association of General Baptist Churches. Survivors include: His loving wife, Wilma Stroud Daughter- Karen (Mike) Robertson of Goreville Son- Donnie (Michelle) Stroud of Goreville Daughter- Carol (Jim) Ashford of Goreville Son- Glenn (Tina) Stroud of Simpson Daughter- Angie Escue of Goreville Daughter- Gayla (David) Jackson of Mattoon Grandchildren- Melissa Robertson Jason Robertson Savannah Stroud Tiffany Stroud Justina Stroud Taylor Ashford and Hannah Sullivan Jalynn Ashford Travis Stroud Jake Stroud Megan Escue Arianna Escue Great-grandson Braiden Connor Sister- Ruth (Roland) Jedlick of Mattoon Great Aunt Rosalie Sykes of CA Several Nieces and Nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Robert Stroud and sister Donna Smith. He was a custodian at Goreville School for 32 years. He loved to spend time with his family, woodworking and gardening, and working with livestock.
