Ronald L. Gibson
LAKE OF EGYPT-Ronald L. Gibson, 68, of the Lake of Egypt passed away at 5:15 AM, Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Mt. Vernon Healthcare Center.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Reverend Tim Woodard officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the time of the services on Saturday. Ron wishes were for his services to be casual, dress as if you were going to play a round of golf.
Ron was born on May 29, 1939 in Harrisburg, Illinois to Virgil and Myrtle (Foster) Gibson. He married Diana Dietzman on January 21, 1989 in Paducah, Kentucky; together they shared 19 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Diana of the Lake of Egypt; his children, Kim and John Neuhoff of Springfield, Kelly and Rick Crossin of Petersburg and Todd McLaughlin and fiancé, Patrice Flynn of Marion; grandchildren, Colby and Ben McLaughlin; cousins, Sally and Don Knight of Goreville; one niece; and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe and Bob Gibson; and nephew, Doug Gibson.
Ron worked for the State of Illinois in the Commerce and Community Affairs Department. He was an avid golfer, played the guitar and wrote country and western songs, loved to read and be at the lake. He served his country with the United States Army National Guard. He was a member of a Masonic Lodge.
