Romelle Kaeser
Marion- Romelle Kaeser, 77, of Marion, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:55am, Tuesday July 24, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mrs. Kaeser on Sunday, July 29th, 2012 at 5pm, at Zion United Church of Christ, 930 West Cherry St. Marion, with the Rev John Holst officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church the same day from 2:30 pm to 4:30pm. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, July 30th 2012. Internment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.
Romelle was born in Crab Orchard, Illinois, to Ray B. and Aurelia (Davis) Harris on May 15th, 1935. She married Dr. John L. R. Kaeser on Christmas Eve, December 24th, 1954.
Mrs. Kaeser will be sadly missed by her husband, John: her children, Diane Lazorchak of Marion and David and April Kaeser of Weldon Spring MO.; grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Lazorchak of Marion, Jessica and Kristen Effinger, and John David Kaeser, of Weldon Spring, MO; brother Dale and Toni Harris of Denver CO and sister Marcia and David Braswell of Belleville, IL; sister-in-law Elflora Aikman of Marion; her sweet puppy Molly, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who all loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Steven Dale Kaeser who passed away on Oct. 25, 2005, and her brother in law, Sam Aikman. Romelle attended SIUC after graduating from Marion High School in 1953, but later moved to Chicago and worked for a newspaper to help put her husband, John, though dental school. When her children were older, she returned to SIU in Carbondale and completed her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education in 1979, having even commuted to work with her daughter, Diane. Following graduation, she taught in Goreville School District for 15 years until her retirement in 1993, having loved her students in the 3rd, 7th, and 8th grade. Romelle was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, the church choir, the Deborah Circle at ZUCC, and she was a former director of the ZUCC LOGOS Program. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Marion Hospital Auxiliary. She was recognized for nine years of service as a member of the Board of Directors for the Hoyleton Youth and Family Services of Hoyleton, Illinois.

The family would especially like to thank physician and friend, Dr. Jan Bowman, and the entire staff at Heartland Regional Medical Center, who have gone above and beyond the call of duty many times during her 4 ½ year illness. The family would also like to thank the many caregivers who have assisted Romelle and John during the past few years.
