Robert Vernell White

MARION-Vernell White, 84, of Marion, passed away at 2:45 AM, Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Marion with Reverend Alan Ozment officiating. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Arthritis Association; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. White was born on February 9, 1920 in Williamson County, Illinois to Robert F. and Myrl (Carter) White. He married Imogene Henson on January 22, 1941 in Hillsboro, Missouri and she survives. Other survivors include son and daughter-in-law, G.A. and Janet White of Marion; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jack Godfrey of Phoenix, Arizona, and Judy and Norman Darnell of Peoria, Arizona; two grandchildren, Michaela Stewart and Brandon White; four great grandchildren, Caleb Stewart, Marah Stewart, Mariah White and Ethan White; and brothers and sister-in-law, Claude and Freida White and Frank L. White all of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; and infant sister. Mr. White was a retired farmer and heavy equipment operator. He was an avid gardener. He loved to go to the local coffee shop and spend time with his `Buddies`. He was a hard working man with a great sense of humor. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
