Robert O. Taylor MARION-Robert O. Taylor, 67, of Marion passed away at 12:30 PM, Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 18, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Charles Curry officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, Friday, May 18, 2007 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Taylor was born February 4, 1940 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Velva and Anna Fern (Slamans) Taylor. He married Virginia Blume on April 24, 1965 in Roselle, Illinois; together they shared 42 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Alan Geary of Marion; grandchildren, Brandi and Ben Cornell of Marion, Nikki Clay and fiancé, Justin Williams of Fairfield, Matt Geary of Marion, Cody Parks of Marion, Ethan Parks and Jesse Parks of Chester; great grandchildren, Cheyenne Curry, Falon Cornell, Riata Clay and Cash Robert Cornell; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Jim Kelley; niece, Anna Marie Kelley; and nephew, Wade Kelley. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard Taylor; and son-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Clay. Mr. Taylor worked as a backhoe operator for many years. He enjoyed raising cattle, fishing and riding horses. He was a member of the Elgin Masonic Lodge.
