Robert L. McLaughlin

Robert L. McLaughlin, Sr. Marion-Robert McLaughlin, 73, of Marion passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 7:30 AM at his home. Funeral service will held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Todd Griener officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until service time. Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with full Military Rites. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. Robert was born on February 28, 1938 in Springfield, IL to Seibert & Helen (Best) McLaughlin. He married Roberta Shearburn on November 7, 1959 in Springfield; together they shared 52 years. He is survived by his wife; children, Robert McLaughlin, Jr., Penny Elizabeth McLaughlin, Brett Alan McLaughlin and David McLaughlin; sisters, Elsie Myers, Muriel Baker, JoAnn Carver, Margaret Neal, Kathy Roscetti and Dorothy Hoheimer; brothers, Seibert McLaughlin, Kenny McLaughlin and Chuck McLaughlin. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Lula, Doris & Mildred. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1957-1961. Robert formerly worked in the railroad industry as a train master. He attended Community of Faith Church and enjoyed fishing, golf & renovating homes. He will be missed.
