Robert Lowell Eairheart, born on June 5, 1942, in Marion, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, at the Veterans Administration Community Life Center, surrounded by his beloved family. He was 82 years old and lived a long, fulfilling life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. 

Robert was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He was deeply loved by his wife, Karen Eairheart, who preceded him in death, and their two children, Trisha Butler and Brian Eairheart. Known for his quick wit and infectious dad jokes, Robert brought joy to those around him, holding his family and friends close to his heart. He and his wife dedicated their lives to Christ and devoted many hours of dedication to their church.  

A voracious reader, Robert particularly enjoyed immersing himself in Westerns, Tom Clancy mysteries, and the adventures of Jack Reacher. Outside of his literary pursuits, he took immense pride in his service to his country as a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He worked as part of the Construction Battalion during the construction of the Da Nang Port in South Vietnam. Following his military service, Robert worked tirelessly as a coal miner at Peabody Coal, earning respect for his dedication and work ethic. He also worked as a custodian for John A. Logan Community College. He was proud to fill the grandfather role to his great nieces and great nephews that he adored so much. 

He is survived by his children, Trisha Butler and Brian Eairheart; his sisters, Jan (Gary) Otey and Vicki (Tom) Mann; and his nieces and nephews, David Otey, Sarah (Greg) Behm, Richelle (Joe) Price-Ghibaudy, Russell (Lisa) Mann, Ashley Mann. He also leaves behind great-nieces and great-nephews Braden Behm, Evie and Madi Behm, Keira and Kylie Otey, Honore’ Ghibaudy, Chloe and Lilly Mann, along with many other relatives and dear friends. 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert McDannel and Evelyne Davis Baker, and his beloved wife, Karen. 

Robert’s life was a testament to love, hard work, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed.
