Robert "Bob" Gibbs

Marion-Robert “Bob” Lee Gibbs, 67, passed away at 1:20am on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the VA Medical Center. Bob was born on August 9, 1949 in Marion to Ezra and Geneva Lucille (Robertson) Gibbs.  He married Cindy Murphy in 1982 in Whiteash.  She survives. Bob served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked for Herrin Hospital for 20 years as a truck driver.  Bob loved fishing, camping and Nascar.  He had a big heart and helped everyone and anyone.  Bob was a beloved husband, father and brother and will be missed by all. Survivors include: Wife-Cindy Gibbs of Marion Sons-Kevin Gibbs and John Gibbs both of Marion Three grandchildren Sisters-Betty Beyers of Creal Springs; Loretta Wallace of Johnston City; Wanda Gibbs of Herrin and Norma Schemonia of Herrin Brothers-Jim Gibbs of West Frankfort and Gary and Patty Gibbs of Crenshaw He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Freddie Eugene Gibbs and Ezra Leon “Eddie” Gibbs. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 1pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Chuck Fritcher officiating.  Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home.
