Reverend George H. Flanagan THOMPSONVILLE-Reverend George H. Flanagan, 78, of Thompsonville formerly of Marion passed away at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 26, 2009 at Clay County Hospital in Flora. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 29, 2009 at Mt. Zion Church in Thompsonville with Pastor Jerry Schell, Pastor Kent Dunford, Pastor Charles Allen and Pastor Billy Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Monday at the church. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is handling the arrangements. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Thompsonville. Memorials may be made to Community Southern Baptist Church in Clay City; envelopes will be available during the service or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Reverend Flanagan was born September 21, 1930 in West Frankfort to Euel L. and Fern (Alexander) Flanagan. He married June Harrison and she survives. Survivors include his wife, June Flanagan; sons and daughters-in-law, James L. and Ruth Flanagan of Conyers, Georgia and Thomas and Brenda Flanagan of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Jared Michael and Krisztina Flanagan and Timothy Scott Flanagan; great grandchild, Noah Flanagan; and brother, John Flanagan. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, E. L. Flanagan. Reverend Flanagan served as a Pastor in the Southern Illinois area.
