Rebecca Lynne Grimes

Rebecca Lynne Grimes "Becky", age 72, of Marion, Illinois, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Becky was born January 15, 1952 in Saline County, Illinois, a daughter of Curtis and Lucille (Bonds) McGuire. Becky grew up in Pittsburg and attended Pittsburg and Marion Schools. She studied at John A. Logan College and worked in the hospitality industry as a server in many area restaurants, bars and hotels. Becky started and operated the Facebook Page "Crime Watch in Marion, Illinois" It was her passion to keep the community up to date, while she worked with local courts and law enforcement.

Her knack for staying on top of things wasn't just a skill; it was a testament to her curiosity and sharp intellect. She approached life with a boldness that commanded respect and admiration. Her "take it or leave it" attitude wasn't about arrogance, but about a deep-rooted confidence in her beliefs and choices. Whether you agreed or not, you couldn't help but appreciate her unwavering authenticity. Beyond her knowledge of what was new and noteworthy, she had a heart that touched many. Her generosity and willingness to help others was as legendary as her knowledge of the latest happenings. She understood that being in the know meant more than just information; it meant connecting with people and making a difference. She wanted the best for everyone. As we remember her, let us cherish the moments we shared, the lessons we learned, and the laughter we enjoyed. Her legacy will live on in the stories we tell and the way she shaped our lives. She was more than someone who kept us updated; she was a guiding light, reminding us to stay true to ourselves, embrace life with fearless determination and be apologetically yourself.

She is survived by two children, Jason Lee Grimes of West Frankfort, IL and Amy Lynne (Terry) Foster of Benton, IL; three grandchildren, Chantell (Charles) Masser, Terry Lee Sneed, and Zachary Sneed; one sister, Rhonda G. Burnett and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Lee and Lucille McGuire and four siblings, Alicia A. Dunn, Donald W. McGuire, Paul Eugene McGuire, and Edna Ruth McGuire.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 27th, 2024 from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM at Blue Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, 12:30 PM at Blue Funeral Home with Rev. Joshua Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Baptist Cemetery in Creal Springs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Cops & Kids or Williamson County FOP.
