Phyllis Davis MARION-Phyllis Davis, 66, of Marion passed away at 6:48 AM, Monday, December 7, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend David Nolen and Reverend Floyd Summers officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Whiteash Cemetery, north of Marion. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Phyllis was born January 3, 1943 in Willaimson County to Harry and Jeanette (Beasley) Hughes. She married Reverend Thomas L. Davis, Sr. on June 3, 1960 in Crab Orchard; he preceded her in death on August 18, 1997. Survivors include her children, Thomas Lee, Jr. and Karen Davis of Johnston City, James and Beverly Davis, John and Jennifer Davis, Cindy and Keith Grider and Zina and Chris Poole all of Marion; grandchildren, Jesse and Hillary Davis, Briana Davis, Josh Davis, Joe Shelton, Nick Shelton, Matt Jenkins, Clint Grider, Tanisha Davis, Darick Davis, Justin and Charlee Poole, Jonathan Poole, Anthony Morris and Devon Davis; great grandchild, Taylor Davis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon and Becca Hughes and Keith and Debbie Hughes; sister, Irene Wright; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother and sister-in-law, James Richard and Rosann Hughes. Phyllis was formerly employed by Walmart, where she had many friends, and was a Certified Nurses Assistant. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Southern Illinois Miners fan and she enjoyed fishing. She loved her grandchildren and her family and will be greatly missed by all.
