Phillip Barton MARION-Phillip Barton, 60, of Marion passed away at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Jimmy Reynolds officiating and Gordon Lambert will give the eulogy. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the funeral home. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Burial will be at Coal Bank Springs Cemetery in Dykersburg. Memorials may be made to Coal Bank Springs Baptist Church; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, Il 62959. Mr. Barton was born August 25, 1946 in Cook County, Illinois to Robert Allen and Grace (Colboth) Barton. He married Barbara Ward on March 28, 1970 in Chicago; together they shared 36 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; son and fiancé, Robert Barton and Dawn Anderson of Marion, Iowa; sister, Kathleen Leonard of Bridgeview; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Ernie Kelley of Marion; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Darrell Barton. Mr. Barton received his ITT degree in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology; at one time he was the youngest electrician in the State of Illinois. In his younger years he was a Marion Basketball Association Coach, Little League Coach and an Illinois High School Association Official. He worked as a plant engineer for the Ecko Corporation in Chicago and a Trades Instructor for American Home Products. He was co-owner and operator of the All Pro Auto Parts store and the “Maybe I’ve Got It” store in Marion. He attended Coal Bank Springs Baptist Church. He served his country with United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967. He was a lifetime member of the Disable American Veterans and the Marion VFW Post 1301.
