Sparta—Peggy Louise Deaton, 63, of Sparta passed away at 8:20 PM on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at her home. Per her request, there will be no visitation and a burial service will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Trammel Cemetery in Stonefort with Reverend Jeff Downard officiating. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to Camp Oxyford Youth Camp, Mt. Moriah General Baptist Church in Creal Springs, Sparta High School Athletics or Winkle Baptist Church Building Fund in Coulterville. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, Il, 62959. Peggy was born on Sunday, October 17, 1948 at her parent’s home in Creal Springs; she had just celebrated her 63rd birthday. She attended Creal Springs Grade School, Marion High School (class of 1966) and SIU Carbondale (class of 1970.) She was a teacher and coach for Sparta Unit #140 for 35 years. She was also employed at Spartan Light Metals for 15 years. Peggy was a member and participant of the American Racking Horse Association and Tennessee Walking Horse Association. She has been attending Winkle Baptist Church in Coulterville. Ms. Deaton is survived by nephews, Jeremy Webb & Amber Deaton of Creal Springs and Jarret Mathew & Keisha Deaton of Creal Springs; niece, Keri Michelle & Greg Alton of Galatia; great-nieces & great-nephews, Tyler Webb Deaton, Brett Lauren Deaton, Ryen Nichole Deaton, Lacey Monroe Deaton, Adrianna Lena Ray, Eli Mathew Deaton and Adele M. Alton. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Webb & Velma (Horn) Deaton and brother, Rickey Webb Deaton.
